If you’re wondering how I got the hummingbird shots . . . I balanced on a half-rotted stump for 25 minutes, staying as still as possible, while holding an eight-pound camera and lens rig, repeatedly checking that the camera was focused on the nest, as well as compensating for the fading light.

A herd of almost 40 bison were hanging out at the Genesee exit along I-70 in the late afternoon.  Here’s one:
